SIPs Facts

Structural Insulated Panels are an energy efficient wall system that replaces traditional methods of construction.

Earthcore SIPs  are manufactured using two OSB skins sandwiching a polyurethane foam core. Connections between panels are made one of two ways. Either a polyurethane tongue and groove connection, which has more insulated value, or a stronger wood spline can be specified. Both connection points are installed in the factory so there is no field preparation required before installation can take place. Furthering the ease of installation all Earthcore SIPs come with recessed bottom edges to allow the panels to be assembled upon pre-installed plate material. Electrical is also a snap to run in our vertical and horizontal chases.

Once the structural insulated panels are assembled they form a complete wall system that eliminates the air infiltration issues faced in traditional methods of construction. By using polyurethane as our core we can boast some of the highest R-values in the industry. Our cores range from an R-13 up to R-84.

Earthcore SIPs can produce structural insulated panel sizes 4’ wide by up to 48’ long in one continuous panel and as long as 40’ by splicing them together in the factory. Our only limit is the length of the truck delivering your SIPs package. All of these features will make you wonder why you even bothered with traditional methods of construction.

Earthcore’s SIPs commitment to creating a product easy to install is further reflected in the complete package that is delivered. Each building comes engineered and is delivered with a set of shop drawings corresponding to the labeled wall assembly. Additionally, we will provide a set of 3-D drawings to further assist installers with construction. All insulated wall and insulated roof panels are factory pre-fit before they are delivered to insure smooth assembly. Earthcore provides blank polyurethane panels, fully cut panels packages and full structural packages. Each package comes with the appropriate amount of foam and screws to complete assembly of the structural panels.

Earthcore is not only committed to producing the most energy efficient wall system on the market, but is also committed to using the greenest products to produce our SIPs. Earthcore SIPs provides Ecomate® foam as one of our polyurethane foam cores. This foam has no ozone depleting properties (ODP) or global warming potential (GWP). These qualities coupled with our enclosed foam system reduce off-gassing to virtually nothing.

The cost of an Earthcore SIP is surprisingly competitive with traditional 2×6 construction insulated to meet today’s energy codes. In fact, with the speed of construction, the decrease in waste and the reduced carrying costs of a project, an Structurally insulated panel structure is likely to cost equal to or less than other traditional forms of construction.

Let us help you to bring the quality and energy efficiency of a SIP building to your clients. You’ll benefit from the vast know how that Earthcore can offer and your clients will appreciate your dedication to their comfort and well being.
